Welcome to Risk Management and Hockey Canada Safety Program Information for all Salmon Arm Minor Hockey volunteers, parents and players.

The Hockey Canada Safety Program utilizes a proactive, preventative, common sense approach to keeping our players safe. The goal of the program is for the safety people to implement effective risk management programs with their own teams where player safety is the first priority at all times, both on and off the ice.

The safety person is a volunteer who has received HCSP accreditation. The HCSP program must be successfully completed every three (3) years in order to be a team’s safety person, even if the individual is a medical professional.

Each SAMHA team must have at least one (1) Safety person rostered.

BC Hockey and Hockey Canada Forms

Salmon Arm Minor Hockey uses ePact to collect your child's health information. This  information is strictly confidential and is only shared with the HCSP official(s) on the team.  Each player must have  their information inputted each season, and they will not be allowed on the ice if they have not.

Concussions

Salmon Arm Minor Hockey has made mandatory for all team officials and referees to take the Concussion Awareness Training. SAMHA encourages parents to take the parent concussion training seminar as well.

Please watch this NHL/NHLPA produced video on concussions.
