2005 Pee Wee Super League Champions
Salmon Arm Minor
Hockey's Bantam Selects, sponsored by
Shell, pulled a Cinderella-story
comeback after finishing fifth-overall
in the regular season. The heart
and soul of the Selects really showed
through all three of their hard-played,
first-round playoff games against the
Sicamous Attack, the Vernon Diablos and
friendly rivals, the Salmon Arm Ice
Demons. In the semi-final game,
the Selects played an equally impressive
match against another tough team, the
Vernon Icemen, and came out with a 2-1
victory. Then came the playoff
final again against the regular season
#1 ranked team, the Vernon Diablos, who
were undefeated in regular season play.
This proved to be the most
heart-stopping action of the playoffs,
with 60 minutes of solid play from both
teams, ending in a 1-1 tie at the end of
regulation time. The battle
resumed with equal intensity at the
beginning of the first sudden-death
overtime, and with less than one minute
left to play, the Salmon Arm Selects
clinched the playoff win with an
tremendous end-to-end rush by defenseman
Sean Lowe who buried the puck in the
back of Vernon's net!
